VIR and Vintage Cars! May 15th-16th

Over the last decade, we’ve had a spectacular run of vintage and historic car races in the middle of May at one of the most picturesque, challenging and historic road racing courses in the US, Virginia International Raceway!

We have a passion to forcefully propagate the wonderful, low-key “car is the star” atmosphere of the oldest vintage racing sanctioning body in the country, the Vintage Sports Car Club of America, founded in 1959.

We also provide a place for numerous “more modern” competition cars that are driven with the proper spirit and respect towards others, the Selected Later Cars group, better known as “Pete’s Buddies.”

  1. In 2000, we hosted the first spectator event at VIR along with the 2000 MG Vintage Racer’s Focus Event.

  2. In 2001, we hosted the Third US Bugatti Grand Prix with an even dozen of these fantastic French blue machines taking the green flag!

  3. In 2003, we hosted the “Bentley Bash” and a whole slew of what Ettore Bugatti wryly referred to as “the fastest trucks in Europe.”

  4. In 2004 and 2006, we were on VIR’s South Course. Now, we share the 2.25-mile North Course (similar in length to Mid-Ohio, Mosport and Laguna Seca) at this wonderful facility with the Alfa Club.

  5. In the last three years, we’ve hosted everything from rare and unusual Ferraris and Maseratis with competition history at LeMans to the stunning Lola T-70 Mk IIIB Coupe built by Lola Heritage to a bunch of Formula Vees and Formula Fords.

  6. Most cars attending are production based sports cars, sedans and small-bore formula cars from the Fifties to the Seventies.

We have two pleasant days of racing as well as hosting a marvelous Saturday evening dinner at the Foote family mansion, “South Bend,” located on the 1100-acre campus. From the flaggers to the security staff to the full EMS crew, Virginia International Raceway is one of the best courses in the country!
